Though Florida can be classed as a very safe state in the US, like any holiday you may go on there are still precautions that you have to take to ensure a safe time abroad for your family.
Here are five tips for keeping your kids safe and happy while on holiday in the great state of Florida:

Eating out in Florida
Many people get worried about changing a young child’s routine when eating abroad, although when on holiday children are quite good at adapting their routine for meal and bedtimes.
They may stay up late at night but there’s no reason why they can’t have a quick siesta by the pool in the afternoon.
If you are worried about readjusting when they return home, the good news is that it will only take a few days for things to get back to normal.
Be safe in public areas
Of course, it is easy to forget about safety when you’re on holiday, especially if the sun is shining. When you’re abroad however, it’s important to be extra vigilant in areas that you do not know and are not used to.
If your child happens to wander off and get lost, make sure they know where they are staying and have at least one contact number on them.
If you are particularly worried about this happening, you can buy cool I.D wristbands online.
Room Safety
When you book a hotel room or an apartment with a balcony it is important that you ask if the balcony is safe for children.
If you happen to have one with wide railings, try and change rooms so that you can enjoy a balcony without worrying if your children will squeeze through the barrier.
Beach Safety
We all know that supervising children is important, but it is especially important when your children are playing near the water.
It is always surprising to see parents trust their children with flotation devices and lilos. The mistake here is that just because a lilo floats, it doesn’t mean that your child will. Always watch small children with any inflatable toy.
As for sunscreen, ensure that your children receive the highest possible grade of protection and if possible, with t shirt and shorts too.
Weather Safety
Although during the summer time, the weather is usually hot and sunny, there are occasional thunderstorms that tend to occur during the afternoons.
Though they only tend to last an hour or two, they tend to be quite violent and more people are injured from lightning strikes in Florida than any other place in the country.
When you go out for the day, make sure you are aware of any storms that may be brewing for the afternoon.
