Casselberry North Triplet Lake from Secret Lake Park
Casselberry is a small town with a big heart that is handily placed to enjoy the Orlando/Kissimee area of Florida, so it can make a great base for an exciting vacation.
Of course you will want to spend time at some of Orlando’s incredible theme parks such as SeaWorld Orlando, Disney’s Animal Kingdom or the Magic Kingdom.
But the family will need some downtime from the hurly-burly of the theme parks and staying in Casselberry is a perfect antidote. Casselberry’s many lakes and green areas make it an appealing place to spend time.
Here are my top tips for enjoying your vacation in Casselberry:
Take to the Water
Casselberry actually has over 30 lakes and ponds, from the Triplet Chain of Lakes to Lake Kathryn and Lake Concord. Lake Howell is the largest and spending time on and by this 450-acre freshwater lake is a must while you are in Casselberry. You will find secluded beaches, nature trails through the woods, and enjoy time spent in a boat on the rippling lake while the sun sets in this serene environment.
Unsurprisingly there are plenty of watersports on offer in the Florida sunshine. Kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddleboarding are all very popular and there are excellent facilities for water sports rental and instruction.
Enjoy the Outdoors Lifestyle
Lovely Seminole County is a great place to enjoy being out in nature in Florida. This area has acres of wilderness and crystal-clear waterways. Rent a canoe on the Wekiva River or go horseback riding on some of the county’s many beautiful trails.
In the town itself the Secret Lake Park has an intriguing name but everyone agrees this is a great park for sports folks, fishing and canoeing. It has peaceful corners and good amenities including a playground the kids will love. There are even basketball and tennis courts for sports fans.
Play Golf in Casselberry
Seminole County is an insider tip for golf lovers. There are so many award-winning courses and greens suitable for all skill levels. Favourites include the Deer Run Country Club, which has good food and service. There’s also the inexpensive municipal Casselberry Golf Club. And of course the weather is lovely for playing golf all year round.
Eating Out in Casselberry
An ever-popular night out in Casselberry is the Colorado Fondue Company. Walking through the doors is a little like being transported from steamy Florida to the Rocky Mountains, and then seated to a Swiss-style fondue evening. You can cook your own food on a hot lava stone — this makes for a really fun night out with friends and family. There’s chocolate fondue as well as all the cheese and they also offer great salads and a range of delicious local craft beers.
Where to Stay in Casselberry
There are some good options for a fun, affordable vacation staying in and around Casselberry if you are spending a few weeks in the Florida sunshine.
