The U.S. National Whitewater Center is where the nation’s Olympic athletes train, but there’s also fun to be had for the whole family on over 1,100 acres of water and land. The rushing rapids offer a range of water sports, including whitewater rafting, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and flatwater kayaking. On land you’ll find a high ropes course, zip-lines, a rock-climbing wall, and even a 25-mile mountain bike trail.

Adrenaline Rush at NASCAR

Charlotte is the home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which has interactive exhibits about the history and excitement of racing to entertain the whole family. There are a number of vehicles and trophies on display and some interesting films to watch. But it’s the driving simulator and the pit crew challenge that are the most fun for kids of all ages. Both activities are very lifelike, making this is a great rainy day trip, whether or not you love NASCAR.
