The way we travel is changing. And I don’t mean budget airlines and online taxi services. I’m talking about an app called GPSmyCity.
When I travel, I often still buy an old fashioned travel guide book but more and more I rely my mobile device. For example I’m sure that, like me, you download a map of a destination to use offline while on-the-go sightseeing.
I also do more and more of my travel research online. I read many travel blogs, bookmark the best articles, and if I have time I make notes of recommendations for restaurants and things to see and do on holiday as I plan my itinerary.
But this is quite cumbersome and once I am travelling I usually don’t have regular internet access so all those useful stories are often wasted.
In addition, as I travel so frequently I often don’t have much time to research thoroughly beforehand. Sometimes I wake up in a destination having little idea of the best things to do there. There is a pleasure in that sort of spontaneity but at the same time I don’t want to miss out!
What if there was an app that would allow you to use those useful city guide blog posts and hidden gem recommendations while you are travelling?
Well now there is. The GPSmyCity app allows you to upload free travel articles to read offline – on the plane if necessary!
And it gets better. For a small charge (around $1) you can upgrade to a GPS-guided article. This means that useful travel article will have GPS coordinates embedded and a map of the route and attractions described.
That’s right, you can take a personal tour guide with you on your phone or other device thanks to GPSmyCity. There are thousands of the best travel articles, covering over 600 cities worldwide, at your fingertips. Once downloaded, the GPS function will show you where you are on the map and guide you to the various recommended locations.
I’m thrilled that some of my most popular travel articles from Wandering Kiwi have been chosen for this app and if travellers think they are worthwhile uploading then I will earn a few pennies.
How to access GPS-guided travel articles:
1. Download the free GPSmyCity app
2. Click on the link to the article you would like to use, and choose upgrade to get the GPS-guided version.
3. Browse the app further to find other relevant articles.
I think that once you have experienced first-hand how useful this travel app can be, you will come back for more. So for the next few weeks you can download three city guide posts for free!
From November 6th to November 12th you can freely download these handy posts free on GPSmyCity:
