Wandering Kiwi’s favourite links

There are plenty of lists out there of the top travel blogs but this is my personal selection of favourite travel blogs I follow and read regularly (in no particular order):

Quiet Wanderings by Cherina Hadley features outstanding photography (as you’d expect from a professional photographer), great stories and inspiring destinations.

Nomadic Samuel is one of the most comprehensive travel blogs out there and it includes lots of video. His ongoing smiling faces series of travel photography is so intimate and joyful.

Green Global Travel is a wonderful travel blog dedicated to all things environmental. Bret and Mary and their family just love life and our planet.

Hecktic Travels relates the housesitting adventures of Pete and Dalene. I love their slow travel approach, Dalene’s engaging storytelling and Pete’s wonderful photos.

Easy Hiker explores Europe from a walker’s perspective. I love easy hiking  and love reading about Michael’s adventures.

Our Oyster is the creation of Jade, a Canadian living in Australia with a passion for budget travel. Posts are informative and full of travel tips.

Muza Chan’s Gate to Japan is where I will go immediately I start planning my trip to Japan. Her ‘Japan Photo A Day’ project is inspiring from a bloggers point of view, as well as a fund of useful information on travel in Japan.

Journey Jottings is the public face of Linda Fairbairn, cartographer, entrepreneur and writer. She creates wonderful pictorial maps of Australia that are combined with a travel journal. And her travel blogging on Australia is second to none.

Italian Notes feeds my passion for Italy on a weekly basis. This Danish journalist covers travel, food and perceptions of Italy.

Reading Sophie’s World, a travel blog by Norwegian Ann-Sophie Redisch. I get excited about travelling with my daughter. Maybe she’ll start contributing to my blog one day the way Sophie’s daughter does!

Hikebiketravel is the blog of Leigh McAdam, who is one seriously inspirational traveller! Her posts and photos on hiking in Canada are like a sweet torture for a mountain enthusiast like me!

Eco Traveller Guide is the brainchild of Linda McCormack and offers green travel tips and analysis with quality writing and integrity.

Best family travel advice, the name says it all. This site has everything that you need to know about travelling with children, written by a family man that loves to travel the world.

Earthtorch is full of tips and ideas to help you travel responsibly and environmentally-consciously. Thankfully being a green traveller does not mean limiting yourself to travelling locally.

Stranded Passengers is a blog about travelling the world and getting lost every step of the way. So if you don’t know where you’re headed then join some like minded travellers.

Travel Photography Tips share’s Nomadic Samuel’s self-taught photography tips and highlights travel attractions and what makes them good destinations for taking travel photos.

I love the quirky mix of destinations that Maryasia from My Travel Affairs has been to; she’s an engaging travel writer and a fellow travel fiend.

David and Auston quit their life in Chicago to backpack around the world in 2012. At TwoBadTourists you can find peer-to-peer travel tips and follow their adventures. While they are admittedly bad tourists it hasn’t stopped them from visiting more than 35 countries during their travels.

I love this fabulous couple Antonio & Amanda who are cycling around the world on an epic adventure to fulfil their dreams and increase global understanding – read about them at the Adventure Junkies.

I am Vagabond has some great content and photography, particularly on US national parks.

I love hiking and adventure travel and Mountain IQ is a fantastic information portal about exciting travel, particular about trekking in Nepal.

From some of the best kept travel spots and secret locales to the most disappointing tourists destinations the Secret Traveller Blog from 1Cover puts a unique spin on travelling.
